NMSP investigate fatal rollover crash northeast of Carlsbad

New Mexico State Police are investigating a fatal rollover crash that took place Thursday northeast of Carlsbad. The incident happened around just before 8 p.m. when police say 49-year-old Annette Sanchez of Carlsbad had a tire blowout while she was driving west on Highway 62.

The blowout caused the vehicle to roll, causing fatal injuries at the scene. Two other passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, a 21-year-old male and an unknown female who left the scene of the crash before officers arrived.

The male passenger was taken to a Lubbock hospital with unknown injuries. Authorities do not know if the female passenger was injured.

NMSP say alcohol was not a contributing factor in the crash though it police say it appears seat belts wre not properly used.
