NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – New Mexico now has its first State Secretary of Early Childhood Education and Care.

On Friday, the state senate unanimously confirmed Education Official Elizabeth Groginsky for the position that was created last year by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. The 53-year-old is a former Washington D.C.-based education official who has been working full time on early child care since 2003 when she served as the county administrator for Colorado’s Head Start program.

She officially starts her new position in July.
