A New Mexico woman paid for bus tickets for a stranded migrant and his young son.
“I have a son and my parents were deported seven years ago. So I understand the struggle these people are going through,” says Lizet Reyz. “So I don’t care if it’s Christmas, I just want to give them my support.”
Lizet Reyz is from Las Cruces.
For Christmas, she went to the Greyhound station in El Paso after hearing about hundreds of migrants who were released from immigration custody and needed help.
Santo came from Guatemala with his young son.
He has family in Arkansas but he did not have enough money to buy a ticket to get there.
These immigrants were released after they were processed by ICE.
They will reunite with relatives across the country before their immigration hearing.
