New Mexico Tech is hoping to attract promising grad students from across the western United States by offering a break on tuition.
The Western Regional Graduate Program allows students at participating schools to pay in-state tuition at any of the other 60 colleges on the list, spanning 17 states and U.S. territories.
Tech’s chemistry and physics departments were already enrolled, and now they’re expanding it to all graduate programs.
For students from other states, that could mean a savings of more than $15,000 a year.
New Mexico students benefit as well, getting lower tuition in states like California and Colorado where education tends to be more expensive.
