Local students lent a helping hand following a deadly volcanic eruption in Guatemala.

Highlands University’s International Service Group had traveled to Guatemala on June 2, for a planned volunteer mission when the natural disaster struck.

The students jumped in and lent a hand, sweeping and shoveling volcanic ash from the streets.

The students also volunteered in a residential hospital for special needs children and adults.
