A New Mexico sheriff is in Washington this week, pushing for better border security.
Eddy County Sheriff Mark Cage is among 45 sheriffs from across the country, visiting the capitol for a roundtable with lawmakers.
The group is urging Congress to support pending legislation that would tighten up the borders, and help collaboration among different agencies working to combat illegal immigration.
Wednesday, Sheriff Cage released a statement condemning Congress, saying “their failure to deal with this issue for 20 years has made our communities less safe.”
