PORTALES, N.M. (KRQE) - New Mexico regulators have approved what is set to be the largest wind farm in New Mexico.
Wednesday the Public Regulation Commission gave Xcel Energy the go-ahead on the Sagamore Wind Farm, along the Texas border near Portales.
The $1.6 billion project includes a second farm on the Texas side.
Excel says once the farm is operational, residential customers in the area can expect savings on their bills.
The plan still needs approval from Texas regulators.
