A judge has reached a settlement aimed at providing more transparency to child care assistance by the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department.

Recipients allege that assistance and co-payment rates were set at random by the state agency. The order requires the state to disclose how it selects care and how much a family must pay.

They must also post detailed explanations of rates on their website within seven days.
