New Mexico brothers win ‘Native Treasures Award’

Two brothers are being recognized for their artwork.

Mateo and Diego Romero won this year’s Native Treasures Award presented by the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture.

According to The Santa Fe New Mexican, the award goes to Native Americans who produce exceptional work.

Though raised in California, the brothers have ties to the Cochiti Pueblo and live in New Mexico.

They also use different mediums.

Mateo is a painter while Diego creates pottery.
