New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas says he wants the U.S. and Mexico to work on sharing more information to stop crime in New Mexico.

Balderas recently met with Sunland Park Police Chief Javier Guerra in southern New Mexico and discussed how closely officers will work with federal immigration officials.

Balderas also met with the Chihuahua Attorney General’s Office about combating cross-border and border patrol.

Gov. Susana Martinez said in April he supported President Trump’s decision to deploy national guard to the border. The AG says he’s not on the same page.

The AG also says he’s planning a meeting in August to start talking about ways to prosecute criminals in both countries.
