Lawmakers representing New Mexico are speaking out on the Supreme Court pick.
In a statement, Republican Congressman Steve Pearce says in part, “The extreme partisanship and theatrics in Washington are deeply disappointing…Senators should do their jobs and determine Kavanaugh’s temperament and qualifications on the merits when weighing his nomination.”
In her statement, Democratic Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham says in part, “There is an unprecedented lack of transparency surrounding the nomination.”
Lujan Grisham says the release of more than 42,000 pages of Kavanaugh’s documents hours before his confirmation hearing makes a thorough review of all documents impossible.
Sen. Tom Udall is also opposing the nomination, tweeting in part that he is demanding Senate Republicans halt proceedings.
