Some parents are accused of some bad behavior at an elementary basketball game Wednesday to the point where punches were thrown.

The game was between Acequia Madre Elementary and Turquoise Trail Elementary.

According to the police report, witnesses heard a group of women yelling at their kids in Spanish to push the other players.

The other mothers confronted them, and when the game ended those mothers say the women grabbed them from behind, punched them, pulled their hair and scratched them — all with their elderly grandmother nearby.

Witnesses said the offenders were clearly parents from Turquoise Trail, but couldn’t identify them, only saying they had painted on eyebrows.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department is investigating, but at this point has not filed any charges.

The League Commissioner did notify parents that both teams may be suspended or disqualified. Both teams are members of the Santa Fe Independent Youth Basketball League.
