SAN MIGUEL COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – One rural part of the state is getting some major improvements to their electric systems.
The USDA is investing more than $8 million in Mora, New Mexico. The money will help fund smart grid technologies and the expansion of the Mora-San Miguel electric system.
Officials say the construction project will provide electricity to 364 new customers. The department is giving $1.4 billion to rural areas across the country.
