A Clovis man will spend nearly two decades behind bars for hitting his infant daughter with a candle, seriously injuring her.

Jackie Cubit pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree child abuse. In November 2017, he threw the glass jar at his wife but missed, hitting the girl in the head.

Judge Matthew Chandler sentenced Cubit to 19 years in prison.
