State Police say the man shot by deputies in Otero County was released from the hospital and is now in jail.

They say 53-year-old James Hill was seen driving a stolen truck in Alamogordo on Tuesday.

Sheriff’s deputies tried to pull him over, but he led them on a chase.

Deputies tried to stop him with spike strips, but after several miles, multiple deputies fired shots near the intersection of U.S. 54 and U.S. 70.

Hill was hit in the arm.

Wednesday, State Police charged him with car theft and fleeing from law enforcement.
