An arrest has been made in the shooting death of an army captain who grew up in Santa Fe.

Colorado Springs Detectives say the body of 28-year-old Captain Daniel Chamberlain Lehman was found last month on the side of the road.

Late last week, police obtained a warrant for 27-year-old Gilberto Chavez Jr.

He has been charged with first-degree murder.

They say Chavez was already in custody for an unrelated case.

Lehman was born in California and spent his childhood in Santa Fe before graduating from West Point.

He was stationed at Fort Carson near Colorado Springs. A motive for the murder has not been released.
