Lawmakers seek protections for Native American women, children

New Mexico

New Mexico lawmakers continuing their push to seek protection for Native American women and children.

According to the Albuquerque Journal reports Congressional leaders are working on improving infrastructure and working over hurdles with native communities. This comes as the New Mexico lawmakers push for the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act. 

The act currently sits in the Senate after passing the House.
