A highway in southeastern New Mexico that gets a lot of traffic from the oil and gas industry is getting a much-needed upgrade.
According to the Carlsbad Current-Argus, the state is working to renovate Highway 82. It’s the main highway between Eddy and Lea County.
Deputies say they’ve responded to many serious and fatal crashes since the oil boom returned in 2017.
Officials are also investigating around $58 million for some improvements. The work should be complete this winter.
