State lawmakers are still awaiting the governor’s approval on a piece of legislation that could boost voter turnout.
The bill would allow New Mexicans to register to vote at early-voting sites on Election Day. Under current state law, voter rolls close four weeks before Election Day.
Should the governor sign the bill, it would take effect in time for the 2020 election cycle.
