New Mexico’s governor-elect has announced more key hires.
Michelle Lujan Grisham named John Bingaman as her chief of staff Monday morning.
Bingaman has experience in the finance industry. He is also the son of former US Senator Jeff Bingaman.
He will oversee the development of policy and legislation as well as communications and legal operations.
He says he will use his experience in the private sector to provide accountability and responsiveness to the people of New Mexico.
“I don’t think you run government like a business but I think you can import some ideas and practices from business and the private sector to government and we’re looking forward to doing that,” says Bingaman.
Lujan Grisham also named Teresa Casados as her COO.
Casados was deputy chief of staff under Governor Bill Richardson and has since worked with the Burrell Group on economic development.
Both Casados and Bingaman will be paid $130,000 a year.
