The governor spent close to $1 million on her inaugural celebration. Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham released a report stating that she raised nearly $873,000 for the event.
Many of the largest donors came from insurance, gambling, and oil companies including Presbyterian, Exxon Mobile and the Ruidoso Downs.
The funds paid for her swearing-in ceremony and two celebratory balls while the rest is being donated to charity.
The committee behind former governor Susana Martinez’s inauguration raised roughly $966,000.
Lujan Grisham spent $721,676 and received $873,602 total according to the governor’s inaugural committee website.
