Former Tax and Revenue Secretary Demesia Padilla pleaded not guilty in court Thursday.
Padilla is accused of stealing $25,000 from a grading and trucking firm, a company she did accounting work for by making transfers from their account to hers.
She’s also accused of trying to pressure Tax and Rev workers to bury an audit of the company to hide the crime.
During her arraignment Thursday, Padilla was reminded not to have contact with witnesses or victims in the case.
If convicted on all charges, Padilla faces up to 15 and a half behind bars.
