Former State Rep. Larry Larranaga has been hospitalized.
Larranaga, 81, served in the State House for 24 years.
He was running for re-election, but announced last month that he was dropping out of the race.
His family says that his decision had nothing to do with his health but his wife’s.
Then, this week they say he was hospitalized with an unknown condition.
“We have a lot of questions ourselves. It’s come on very suddenly. We just don’t have a diagnosis, but we are thankful to those doctors and nurses at UNM Hospital who are running through the tests to hopefully, eventually diagnose what it is,” Larranaga’s niece, Lora Lee Ortiz, said.
Larranaga represented District 27, which is all Bernalillo County.
His family came to KRQE News 13 to make the announcement about his hospitalization, but are asking for privacy while they wait for more information.
