Former KBIM anchor David Gonzalez passes away

New Mexico

The city of Roswell is mourning the loss of a beloved community member.

David Gonzalez, the former face of KBIM-TV, died Monday from complications from bypass surgery. He was 63 years old.

Born and raised in Roswell, Gonzalez was with KBIM for two decades and even anchored for KRQE News 13 in Albuquerque for a year. People who knew him said he will be deeply missed.

“David was a great guy. Always there, very prompt, very direct…great leader in the community. If he wasn’t in front of the camera, he was always behind the scenes doing something,” said Todd Verciglio, Roswell Chamber of Commerce.

Monday, his body was escorted home from Lubbock. Funeral arrangements are still pending.
