A former Curry County Detention Center officer will serve nine years behind bars for helping three inmates escape.

Sarina Dodson was the only person working in the jail’s control room last June when three inmates Aaron Clark, Victor Apodaca, and Ricky Sena walked out three doors that were supposed to be locked. They were on the run for nearly a week.

In court Wednesday, Dodson pleaded guilty to assisting escape and bringing contraband into the jail. The three inmates who escaped were later taken into custody following a SWAT standoff.
