Health officials say despite the warmer weather, flu season is just getting started.
In its latest flu report, the New Mexico Department of Health said there have been a total of 68 flu and pneumonia-related deaths in the state from 2018 to 2019.
Over the last few years, the flu season didn’t peak until mid to late February.
The report says last flu season, there were 284 deaths.
The CDC has also released data showing that this year, New Mexico is among nine other states that have high influenza-like illness activity.
