Floodwaters sweep Union County driver off the road

CLAYTON, N.M. (KRQE) – A driver is okay after trying to cross a flooded road in northern New Mexico.

A Union County sheriff’s deputy responded to the SUV just after 6 a.m. on Highway 402 south of Clayton. The deputy learned the driver was trying to cross the flooded highway when the vehicle was swept off the road.

Photos show several stretches of road along that highway were also underwater.
