A New Mexico firefighter killed in the line of duty will be honored Friday night at a banquet.
Volunteer Nara Visa Firefighter John Cammack was battling a wind-driven blaze near the New Mexico/Texas state line last summer when the fire overran the vehicle he was riding in.
The 74-year-old was airlifted to Lubbock, where he later died.
He will be recognized Friday at the First Responders Banquet along with others who have gone above and beyond to serve the public.
