A faith-based nonprofit is in the running to teach sex education in Española Public Schools.
According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, the Care Net Pregnancy Center, part of a national umbrella of anti-abortion organizations has proposed a partnership with the district.
Care Net says its curriculum will meet all state standards and offer information on birth control.
It would also be implemented free of charge.
The organization has come under fire nationwide, with parents and students claiming instructors let their religion influence their lessons.
KRQE News 13 reached out to Española’s school board president for comment on the potential partnership, but have not heard back.
