Bernalillo County honored some of its most outstanding citizens Sunday.
County Commissioner James Smith hosted an East Mountain Celebration at Los Vecinos Community Center in Tijeras.
It was a great opportunity for families to enjoy music from bands while supporting local businesses in the area.
The events main focus was to celebrate five citizens who have spent multiple years volunteering in the East Mountains.
“This is a really strong community out here, a real feeling of purpose out here. And it’s so good to be able to recognize people who are so involved,” says Smith.
There was also a car show during the event.
