Dog rescue group searching for new home for 'Birdie' the Doberman

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - A local dog rescue group is hoping one of their dogs gets the second chance it deserves.

"Birdie" the Doberman was adopted in 2014. She was with the same family until recently when they moved and couldn't take her with them.

Instead of returning Birdie to the Doberman Rescue of New Mexico, they dropped her off at the city shelter, which is in violation of many rescue group's rules. All they ask is the dog gets returned back to them.

"In some other shelter, she might have been put to sleep right away and that would have been such a tragedy. She is such a good girl," Trish Coffey, with the Doberman Rescue of New Mexico, said.

Birdie is 6 or 7 years old and does well with other dogs. If you're interested in adopting her, click here.
