A recently released report from the U.S. Department of Energy is expressing concerns over nuclear safety at Los Alamos National Laboratory. According to the Albuquerque Journal, the report says the lab falls short in making sure it’s nuclear operations are safe.
The report was released Monday and lists problems in the way LANL directs nuclear safety issues. This comes as the lab is moving closer to ramping up its manufacturing of nuclear weapons.
The reports says the safety lapses are serious enough it could shut down the lab’s plutonium operations again.
