Community members are coming together to try to save a dog that’s been roaming the desert for two years, but it’s not stray.

Since 2016 two dogs have been spotted wandering around the same area of Crownpoint, New Mexico.

Locals believe the animals belonged to a man who died there in a car crash, so the pair stayed together waiting.

Sadly last year, one of the dogs was hit by a car and killed.

Now, Paw Trackers Recovery and Humane Tracking are on a mission to capture the dog and find it a good home.

They’ve started a GoFundMe account to help pay for the dog’s say at the shelter and its medical treatment once they do capture it.
