CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) - City officials in Carlsbad are moving forward with a plan to try and stop illegal dumping.
According to the Current Argus, with the help of the state, the city is hoping to purchase large disposal containers to deter illegal dumpers.
The director of "Keep Carlsbad Beautiful" says roughly 40 instances of illegal dumping take place in a month. Last year, a community clean-up even resulted in 2.83 tons of garbage removed from the city.
