The Bureau of Indian Affairs is working to clear roads on the Navajo Nation despite the government shutdown.

The BIA was going to pull back workers Friday, but Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye requested an extension ahead of an upcoming storm.

The BIA says it can’t resume full operations but will remove snow and ice from major arteries in case of an emergency.
