An Albuquerque student who helps save lives has won a big award.
Wednesday, Bosque School senior Mia Herrera received the Prudential Spirit Community Award. Mia is a certified medic in Bosque’s Medical Reserve Corps program, responding to medical calls and teaching students to become EMTs.
She says she is grateful for the award.
“It’s really amazing. It’s great to serve my community and to be recognized for that, and to just give back,” said Herrera.
Mia is one of two young volunteers from New Mexico to win the award. She also received $1,000 and a trip to Washington.
