A new book spotlights New Mexicans who speak Spanglish.

Written by former UNM professors Rena Torres Cacoullos and Catherine Travis, “Bilingualism in the Community” explains the skill behind language mixing in New Mexico.

The book concludes that New Mexican bilinguals have the ability to ‘code switch’ by interspersing Spanish words in an English sentence while keeping proper tense.

The book will be available at the UNM Library.
