Bernalillo County Commissioners are expected to discuss several initiatives aimed at helping people deal with behavioral health issues.
Approval of a partnership between the county and UNMH is something Commissioner Maggie Hart Stebbins says is a top priority for Tuesday night’s meeting.
The partnership has been in the works for a decade and is designed to give people direction on where to find services when having a crisis.
“Sometimes they just need stabilization which means they need a couple of days in some kind of monitored facility to get whatever their condition is, under control and then sometimes they need respite, they need longer-term care,” said Hart Stebbins.
Stebbins says commissioners also plan to work with the community organizations and law enforcement agencies to help tackles these issues.
Commissioners are setting aside $3 million for the initiative.
