Officials in Lea County are issuing a warning after a bee attack sent two people to the hospital.

It happened Friday on the 100 block of N. Leech Street in Hobbs.

Firefighters say when they arrived, bees were swarming everywhere.

They say someone was mowing the property when they bumped against a building and apparently disrupted a hive, and was quickly attacked.

A second person there tried to help by spraying water on them and was attacked as well.

Firefighters in full bunker gear had to subdue the bees with foam and water to get to the patients.

Officials didn’t say how severe their stings were, or just how many each received.
