NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The New Mexico Department of Health issued a warning residents after a bat found in Artesia tested positive for rabies. Officials say there was no human exposure to the infected bat, but a dog did interact with it.
The Department of Health says anyone who comes into contact with any bad should talk to a healthcare professional immediately. Officials say this is the first rabid animal detected in Eddy County since 2018.
