Alleged gun thieves arrested after high speed chase

EDDY COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) - Three people have been arrested for a high speed chase in Eddy County that may be linked to a series of gun thefts.

As KRQE News 13 previously reported, 20-year-old Erica Hernandez and two juveniles led authorities on a car chase before crashing into a business in Artesia, and backing into a deputy's unit.

Deputies say a gun found in the car was linked to a home burglary in Carlsbad that was reported just hours before.

Those burglary victims say they recognized the suspects when they posted pictures of themselves with the stolen guns on social media.

Officials say no charges have been filed yet relating to the gun theft.
