Alamogordo’s city manager has stepped down.

The city released a statement Friday thanking Maggie Paluch for her service to the community, and said the city commission will discuss appointing an interim manager at its next meeting on Feb. 26.

The statement didn’t say why Paluch resigned, but she has been in the spotlight recently after Police Chief Brian Peete accused her of fostering a culture of retaliation and unprofessional behavior.

Paluch responded she had been having problems with the chief, and believes he made the allegations knowing his 90-day review was coming up.

KRQE News 13 is waiting to hear back from the city as to whether Paluch gave a reason for her resignation.
