The ACLU is backing a black college student after accusations a Santa Fe Allsup’s racially profiled him.

KRQE News 13 first reported on the incident in August.

Jordan McDowell was in the Cerrillos Road store to buy candy, but a video shows the clerk calling police saying she wanted him out because he was “being arrogant because he’s black.”

Now, the ACLU has filed a human rights complaint against the convenience store.

It says, “No person should ever be turned away or have the police called on them simply because of the color of their skin.”

Allsup’s has not responded to requests for comment regarding this incident.
