Two veterans were honored with Medals of Service during a ceremony in Las Cruces.
Lieutenant Francisco Mantua, who served in the Army in Vietnam, received the Silver Star, the third-highest personal decoration for valor in combat, and the Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster.
Private First Class George Gay, who served in the Army during World War II, was posthumously awarded a Bronze Star Medal and two other medals.
His son accepted them on his behalf.
“Memorial Day is when we talk about the young men and women whose lives were interrupted, who never came home,” Rep. Steve Pearce said.
Congressman Steve Pearce had the honor of presenting the men with their medals at the Veteran’s Memorial Park.
