New Mexico teachers honored for saving students who were choking


ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (KRQE) – Two New Mexico teachers are being honored for saving their students.

The Alamogordo superintendent recognized Kendra Lemke and Joelle Jaskolowski for performing the Heimlich Maneuver on two students.

Lemke helped save a student choking on a water bottle cap.

Jaskolowski, who is an orchestra teacher, saved a sixth grader choking on an unknown object.

According to the Alamogordo Daily News, during Wednesday’s Board of Education meeting, both were recognized for extraordinary personal action.
