New Mexico students could see big boost from grant money

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A big boost is coming for students pursuing the sciences at New Mexico universities.

Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich announced on Tuesday that more than $18 million is being awarded to five campuses to support Hispanic and low-income students working on degrees in “STEM” fields which stands for science, technology, engineering and math.

Selected to receive the grant are two Eastern New Mexico campuses, Highlands, University of New Mexico Valencia Campus and New Mexico State University Carlsbad Campus.
