New Mexico sheriff killed in crash laid to rest


LOVINGTON, N.M. (KRQE)– A New Mexico sheriff killed in a crash was laid to rest Saturday.

Lea County Sheriff Steve Ackerman was on his way to the Legislative session in Santa Fe Tuesday night when his car rolled on the highway.

Friends and family gathered for a private funeral service for the husband and father of two.

Governor Martinez has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff until sunset Monday.
