New Mexico prison inmates take claim of overcrowding to federal court

Representatives of New Mexico prison inmates are taking their concerns of overcrowding to Federal Court.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports lawyer representing inmates in Grants filed a motion in U.S. District Court saying state officials are violating terms of court settlements intended to prevent overcrowding.

They also claim the inmates are being housed in small, dorm-style cells.

They are asking the state to provide relief to the inmates.
