New Mexico officials urge EPA to use federal funds for mine spill cleanup

FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) – Members of New Mexico’s congressional delegation are urging the EPA to start using the federal funds approved for cleaning up the Gold King Mine spill.

It calls on the EPA to use $4 million designated for cleanup to create a long term water monitoring plan.

That 2015 spill released millions of gallons of toxic wast into the Animas and San Juan Rivers.
