New Mexico man sentenced to prison for online hacking

A New Mexico man will spend 12 years in prison for hacking into at least three dozen websites.

John Gammell of Las Cruces engaged in a series of cyber attacks against banks, law enforcement agencies and his former boss.

The attacks overwhelmed his former company’s website with traffic, taking them offline.

Gammell pleaded guilty to federal charges in Minnesota back in January, and was sentenced in federal court Friday.
